Repair
For a localised fault when the rest of the roof is sound.
A damaged tile, flashing or isolated leak may need a targeted repair.
Restore
For a roof that can be maintained and recoated without full replacement.
The work may combine repairs, cleaning, repointing, sealing and coating.
Replace
For deterioration that repair or restoration cannot reasonably address.
Ask the roofer to explain what has failed and why replacement is recommended.
Let the inspection guide the decision
These distinctions summarise Stormguard Roofing’s published advice. They are starting points for a conversation, not a diagnosis of your roof.
The lowest upfront price may not be the best long-term choice. Compare the proposed work and its suitability; do not rely on a promised resale return.
Be careful with rules of thumb
Arden Projects’ Brisbane and Logan guidance flags extensive broken tiles, rotten timber, inadequate pitch and repeated failed repairs as reasons restoration may be unsuitable. Its suggested tile-damage threshold is one contractor’s guidance, not an Australian Standard or a rule for every roof.
If your roof is leaking now
Contact a roofer directly. RoofMatch does not repair leaks, dispatch emergency crews or promise a same-day visit. You can ask for a free, no-obligation quote. No roofer is named until one is approved, and none are approved yet.
